Hi all, thanks again for subscribing. I set a lofty goal for a post every Thursday and that lasted about 3 weeks. I am going to push that out to every other week unless I finish something cool. As always, as soon as I finish a tool it goes out to paid subscribers.
Stuff I am currently working on:
Dynasty Tool Kit
Continuing to add tools to the kit, this will be an ongoing project as new ideas come along.
- Unique player ID - Named Function that applies a unique number to each player in your database, really great for combining multiple data sources that don’t have players name spelled the same or where you have 100 players named Luis Garcia.
- Scouting Tool (working on a good name for this) - This is huge and I am excited to use this and share it with everyone. Its a massive database of scouting notes and prospect stats you can use for your dynasty draft prep or throughout the year to compare players in trades… its really useful. More on this to come.
(This is a snapshot of the Scouting Tool I made for myself last year)
Fantasy season has begun
That means I am building tools for my own league, we do a separate prospect and keeper draft. This also means I am going to have to slow down at some point and actually prep for those drafts. What is the point of all these tools if I don’t ever use them to win my league?
- Prospect Draft Sheet - I figured out an interesting way to track the current pick and see best available - This sheet is finished and I am sending a copy out to paid subscribers next week when I finish the writeup.
- Keeper Draft Sheet - This is not going to translate to every league but for those out there trying to build tools for their league you can take what I built and run with it. - I have not started on this one yet, but you will get updates when I do.
- Fantasy HUB 2.0 - I decided last season to completely revamp the way our league’s fantasy database/hub worked. Its bigger, better and maybe a little simpler. I did have to make an entire training document so the co-admins in my league could figure it out.
Do you have any ideas?
First off, I am not out of ideas, but I do want to hear from all of you. Now that I have a few articles up… What do you like? What don’t you like? What would you like to see more of?
I see this Zach’s Baseball Sheets as a way to learn and push myself to create new things, so if you have a challenge I am all ears.
Thanks for reading!
Great stuff Zach! I've definitely learned and been able to use a lot from what you've done. Wondering if you have a way of pulling projections in automatically from different sites ( esp ones with logins needed). I can do it for Fangraphs and that is it. Haven't figured out any of the others.
